TREASURE HUNTING
At the Neilson Hays Library, Ukranian artist Anastasiya Rubanova is exhibiting graphics and etchings alongside her colorful batiks until September 30 in the Rotunda Gallery. According to the library’s website, the result is an unusual show of graceful natural shapes, where different media extend each other in subtle ways and unveil the hidden beauty of a microcosm. Anastasiya invites viewers to take a closer look at real treasures, which are close to us but usually unseen in our everyday lives — the multitude of variations of insects and plants.

Anastasiya’s etchings, which focus on the world of insects, use an ancient and unique technique. The artist learned the secrets of this ancient art form from professors at Kiev Art Academy. Her soft-color batiks focus on the life of plants. Her combination of pure emotions and unique craftsmanship reflects her 15 years of work in this medium.

Anastasiya received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kiev. More recently she taught painting in the Art College in Sudgou, China. This sixth solo exhibition is her first in Bangkok.

The library is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
