Textile Innovation in the future under Thai context by Dr.Chanchai Sirikasemlert

The Jim Thompson Art Center cordially invites you to the lecture, Textile Innovation in the future, under Thai context by Dr.Chanchai Sirikasemlert (Director of Technology Promotion Devision, Thailand Textiles Institute), on Sunday, August 30th 2009, 15.00-16.30pm., at William Warren Library, 4th floor Henry B. Thompson Building. This educational program is part of FUTUROTEXTILES exhibition.



The lecture, Textile Innovation in the future, under Thai context, will explain about some types of textile in the industry which have special qualification, developed from the use of variety of fibers, emphasizing on its weaving process. For example, products from banana plant, aloes wood, and jute fibers are made of combination of fibers for better quality and enough quantity, enabling them to be produced for industrial purpose; knee support bandage coated with essence of herbal hot compress is made from applying nano zinc oxidant on the textile for the purpose of reducing infection and swell; multifunction fabric has the quality of water and dust resistance from the outside and moisture absorption from the inside of each garment; special quality out-field suit is able to ventilate the heat, reduce odor and bacteria, comfortable, easily dried; products from recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate) fiber is product developing from recycled PET water bottle to reuse and apply as textile product, adding the value to recycle materials; infrared radiant textile product from macadamia coal is product developing from combining polypropylene fiber with macadamia coal, increasing ability to the far infrared method, considering biogenetic rays in medical field which helps spread out heating ray, blood circulation, and could be applied as health products; textile from banana plant fiber is developed from mixture of banana plant fiber, rayon, and polyester, enabling to produce many textile products such as table sheet, curtain, and man's suit; polyester and coal from coconut shell is developed from mixture of polyester fiber and tiny powder of coal from coconut shell, derived from cremating the shell in proper condition, adding it's property to absorb humidity, odor, and anti bacteria.
