
The First Exhibition of Magnificent Thai Fabrics of Siam
The Thai Textile Society wishes to forward to its members information about The First Exhibition of Magnificent Thai Fabrics of Siam, which will be held Sunday, November 30, at the Convention Hall of the Royal Thai Navy off Arun Amarin Street near Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn).
Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsavali will formally open the exhibition at 7:30 p.m. and then attend the gala dinner and fashion show.
Registration for the event will begin at 4 p.m. Attendees will have an opportunity to view the exhibition of Thai fabrics before an auction of selected textiles begins at 6 p.m. The textiles are from Tai Yuan, Tai Yai, Tai Lue, Tai Khoen and Tai Lao weavers.
The exhibition has the following objectives:
To celebrate His Royal Majesty King Bhumiphol's 81st birthday as well as Her Royal Majesty Queen Sirikit's 76th birthday.
To raise funds to support the “Reduction of HIV Transmission from Mother to Child Foundation” of the Thai Red Cross.
To broaden the knowledge of Thai adornments and history of clothing in different periods.
To preserve and enhance the arts of Thai-style dress.
To provide opportunities for ancient fabric advocates to share their knowledge, insights, and experiences.
Tickets for the exhibition alone are 250 Baht. Tickets for the exhibition, the fashion show, and gala dinner are 2500 baht and 5000 baht per seat. Premium seats are available at 10,000 baht, 20,000 baht, 30,000 baht, 40,000 baht, and 50,000 baht per ticket.
