Indigo Workshop 2008 at Studio Naenna in Chiang Mai

Thai Textile Society member Patricia Cheesman of Studio Naenna in Chiang Mai advises that a few places are still left for the October 1-3 Indigo Workshop 2008. This workshop introduces participants to the indigo plant and demonstrates how to use it to dye fabric.
The cost for the workshop is 2000 baht, which includes coffee, tea, and basic equipment. This price does not include fabric for dying.

The full schedule for the workshop follows:
Day 1
7.30 a.m. Meet at Studio Naenna. Cut and bundle indigo plants at the plantation.
10.00 a.m. Soak the indigo plant bundles.
10.30 a.m. Discussion and refreshments.
11.00 a.m. Statistics and theory of indigo growing and vat preparation. Choose fabrics for dyeing.
11.30 a.m. Prepare an indigo vat together.
12.00 a.m. Lunch on the Studio verandah.
1.00 p.m. End of the first session.
Day 2
9. 00 a.m. Meet at Studio Naenna. Beat indigo. Stir and feed the new indigo vat.
10.00 a.m. Discussion and refreshments.
10.30 a.m. Indigo dyeing using the vats at Studio Naenna.
12.00 a.m. Lunch on the Studio verandah.
1.00 p.m. Sieve indigo paste.
2.00 p.m. End of the second session.
Day 3
9.00 a.m. Meet at Studio Naenna. Collecting and weighing indigo paste. Dyeing indigo
continues for the darkest indigo color.
10.30 a.m. Conclusion to the workshop and refreshments.
