
International Seminar on & ldquo;The Culture of Tai Textiles in Marriage Traditions,”

The Office of the Agriculture Museum and Culture of Kasetsart University invites members of the Thai Textile Society to attend the opening ceremony of its “International Seminar on the Culture of Tai Textiles in Marriage Traditions” on Thursday, August 28 at 9 a.m. The ceremony and seminar will be held at the Agriculture Museum at the University to mark the 76th birthday of Professor Orathai Phondi, director of the Office of the Agriculture Museum and Culture.
The ceremony will begin two days of discussions on Tai marriage traditions that will include lectures by experts from many parts of Thailand. Keo Siri Everingham, a member of the Thai Textile Society, will present two lectures: the first on “Decoration of Marriage Costumes in the Lan Xang Kingdom” on Thursday, August 28 at 4 p.m. and on “Marriage Customs of the Lan Xang Kingdom” at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 29.
Attendees will also have a chance to purchase Tai Textiles at a sale that will run concurrently with the seminar.
