Guizhou Textile Tour
APRIL 19-MAY 10, 2007: East-West Tours, Inc. presents a textile-oriented
tour to Guizhou, China, with Dale Carolyn Gluckman, curator of Costume and
Textiles (mainly Asian) at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for over 20
years and now an independent curator. This 23-day tour will visit Dong,
Miao, Yao, Shui and Ge Jia villages to see textile techniques, costumes,
silver ornaments, museums, villages and festivals (including the Sisters
Colorful Rice Festival at Shidong). The variety of textile techniques among
these groups from batik to minute embroidery to folding tiny strips of silk
or metal to create patterns is staggering. As many textile production
techniques as possible will be seen on this tour. The tour is limited to16
participants. Cost is US $5,995 per person ALL INCLUSIVE from Bangkok,
